Spot prices of antimony ingot in European market rise by around USD50/t to USD5,550-5,650/t in warehouse Rotterdam, and some traders begin quoting USD5,700/t for spot deals of material with low bismuth content. The markup of antimony ingot in China is considered a contributing factor to the move in Europe.
Major smelters in China reported deals at RMB40,200-40,500/t (USD5,353-5,393/t) ex works, RMB200-300/t (USD27-40/t) ex works higher than the price a week ago. Small smelters in Lengshuijiang, Hunan also offer RMB200-300/t higher compared with RMB37,500-37,700/t (USD4,993-5,020/t) VAT excluded the previous week. However, most deals were concluded at RMB37,600-37,800/t (USD5,007-5,033/t) VAT excluded.
The lack of raw material continues to be the main reason that Chinese producers hold high prices. Many smelters have been running below capacity due to shortage of antimony concentrate.
Influenced by higher prices of antimony ingot, antimony trioxide market also creeps up a little bit. Producers reported that more deals were concluded at RMB36,500-36,700/t (USD4,860-4,887/t) ex works in the week, up by RMB200-300/t (USD27-40/t) from RMB36,200-36,500/t (USD4,820-4,860/t) ex works a week ago. Meanwhile, products of famous brand, such as Twinkling Star, is being offered at around RMB37,000/t (USD4,927/t) ex works.
The export market for antimony trioxide also surges up slightly with traders raising offers to USD4,800-4,850/t FOB for common antimony trioxide and USD50-100/t higher for products with famous brand.
