BEIJING (Asian Metal) 16 May 07 - European antimony prices were holding steady today, with dealers and traders reporting brisk sales and firm prices. “I expect antimony ingot price to hold steady for the next few months." one trader said to Asian Metal. A British dealer said that demand for March business "is unseasonably weak.”
At close, European participants quoted material at around USD5,400-5,500/mt CIF Rotterdam for antimony 99.65%min and at around USD4,700-4,800/mt CIF Rotterdam for antimony trioxide.
A German dealer, who stated he sold few tones of antimony ingot at little over USD5,400/mt CIF Europe, commented that there is no big stock in warehouse Rotterdam but that demand is so weak that there is enough to cover demand.
“Prices remained fairly stable this week with only minimal inquiries,” participants agreed to comment. “As for the future demand remains weak and only buying for spot needs and prices are poised to keep at the current level,” according to many industry observers.
